How the News Effects Your Vote and Thoughts

"The great masses of people will more easily fall victims to a big lie than to a small one. Especially if it is repeated over and over." - Adolph Hitler

There are many news stations, cable TV news and local television stations that are viewed daily. Do you really think any of these stations are bipartisan? Do you think they are after ratings? Do you really think they are after their own agenda? Well this is the place to find your answer to all of these questions.

Breaking down the news that you see, read or hear is a task within itself. Most people think that Journalist have a code of ethics and they do. The Journalism code of ethics is posted on the website of Professional Society of Professional Journalists and is clear and concise, Seek Truth and Report It. “Journalists should be honest, fair and courageous in gathering, reporting and interpreting information.”

Journalism today has turned into RATINGS, yes RATINGS! If you watch any of the channels they are only interested in this because this is what drives income to the station. If the station is watched more than any other station, they will get the most ads. More ads = more income and more income = higher paid anchors, CEO’s, researchers, producers, etc.

"Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have." – Richard Salant, former President of CBS News

"The New York Times is for us what Pravda was for the Soviets" – Gore Vidal

The Road to the White House

The road to the White House is not a simple task. Most American’s have no idea what it takes to become President of the United States of America. But what wins an American Presidency? Let’s get to the heart of that.

Barack Obama becoming the first black President of the United States is a milestone for America but did American’s make the decision based on the facts? Did American’s get swindled into believing he was the “best” man for the job? Are we all so hypnotized by television that we trust and believe whatever it told to us each and everyday by the newscasters? The answer is yes, you bet cha!

Have Americans become so lazy that they don’t care about the facts or finding out what or whom they are voting for? Can we honestly say Americans are in a since ignorant when voting because all they do is feed into the rhetoric? Lastly, can we believe that some Americans vote with their emotions rather than their head? The answer to all of these questions are yes.

How do you really know who is the best person for the job? How do you find the information in a non-biased manner? Should you as an American do your homework when voting or should you leave it up to the newspapers, news anchors and short commercials? What is your role in the election?

Do you know what it really means to be a Democrat? How about being a Republican? What does it mean to be an Independent? Do you really know where it all started and how these parties divided? Do you really understand why it is important to know the difference? It might surprise you what the fundamentals of each parties objectives are. What you might not realize most Americans vote based on one or two issues instead of looking at the overall picture. Most Americans also believe that one party is for an issue and the other might not be just based on their political association. This is not true, you must check the facts.

My object is for you to understand what your part is in the American election and how outside forces persuade you to vote. Most Americans don’t make up their own minds they let others do it for them. Right now you are thinking that is not true but keep reading my blog posts with an open mind and you will understand this is a true statement.
